Terms of Use

Effective 31 October 2026.

Factum (factumpost.com) is run by ALEXANDRE RODRIGUES, UNIPESSOAL, LDA, a company registered in Portugal ("we"). By creating an account or commenting, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, you can still read the site, but you can't comment.

1. Who can comment

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must sign in with a Google account that has a verified email. Anonymous comments are not allowed.
  • One person, one account. Creating another account to get around a ban is itself a reason for a ban.

Your public name is your first name and the initial of your last name, taken from your Google account. Your email is never shown.

2. What you can't post

Disagreement is welcome, including with us, with fact-checkers and with other readers. Debating a theory, for or against, is what this site is for. These are not allowed:

  1. Hate speech: attacking, insulting or dehumanizing people because of race, ethnicity, colour, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age. This includes slurs, even when disguised with numbers, symbols or spacing (for example "n1gg3r" or "m.a.c.a.c.o").
  2. Threats and violence: threatening anyone, wishing death or harm on someone, or calling for violence.
  3. Attacks on democracy: calling for violence against, or the overthrow of, democratic institutions, or encouraging others to do so.
  4. Harassment: insulting or targeting other commenters or private individuals.
  5. Defamation: stating as fact that a named private person committed a crime or a shameful act.
  6. Other people's personal data: addresses, phone numbers, documents, workplaces, photos or anything that could expose someone ("doxxing").
  7. Sexual content, and in any form anything that sexualizes minors.
  8. Spam and scams: ads, repeated links, phishing, off-topic promotion.
  9. Impersonation of another person, organization or of Factum.
  10. Anything else that is illegal in Portugal, the European Union or Brazil.

3. How moderation works

  • Automatic filter. Every comment is checked against a list of prohibited words and their disguised spellings. Comments that match are not published, and you'll be asked to rewrite them. Some context-dependent words don't block a comment but send it for review.
  • Reports. Any signed-in reader can report a comment. Reported comments are first reviewed by an automated system (an AI model), which can keep, hide or remove them. Hidden comments wait for a human moderator.
  • Human review. Our moderators can restore, hide or remove any comment and can review any automated decision.
  • We tell you why. If your comment is hidden or removed, you'll see it marked under the article with the reason. Only you see it.
  • Appeals. If you think a decision was wrong, email privacidade@munninlabs.com within 6 months with a link to the article. A person will review it and reply.

4. Strikes, bans and the email blacklist

  • Each comment removed for breaking these Terms gives your account a strike.
  • With 3 strikes, your account is permanently banned.
  • Serious violations get an immediate ban, without earlier strikes: hate speech or slurs aimed at a group, credible threats, doxxing, sexual content involving minors, or incitement to violence.
  • When an account is banned, its email address is blacklisted, so it can't be used to create a new account. For Gmail addresses, variants with dots or "+" count as the same address. We keep the blacklist as an irreversible code (a hash), not as the email itself.
  • We may also remove all comments from a banned account.
  • You can appeal a ban as described in section 3.

5. Your comments

  • You're responsible for what you post.
  • You keep the rights to your comments. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to display them on Factum for as long as they're published.
  • You can delete any of your comments, or your whole account, at any time from the comment section of any article.

6. Cooperation with the authorities

To comply with the law (including article 15 of Brazil's Marco Civil da Internet), we keep records of the IP address, date and time of each sign-in and each comment for 6 months, then delete them. We only share them with authorities when legally required, for example by a court order. Comments that may be crimes can be reported to the competent authorities.

7. The articles

Posts are written with the help of AI software and reviewed by a person before they're published. Claim labels reflect the sources available when the post was written. We correct mistakes when they're pointed out: write to privacidade@munninlabs.com. Content is provided as is, without warranty.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms. If the change is significant, you'll be asked to accept the new version before commenting again.

9. Law and contact

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Contact: privacidade@munninlabs.com.

Every case links to its original sources. Summaries, never copies.
